Located on the 3rd floor of the Harbor City MIFA1862, a former warehouse for reparation of boats recently renovated by renown Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, Cassina is the first brand stepping in with their extensive furniture showroom (other art galleries and MoMA Design Store are already settled downstairs). The open plan layout is flexible and editable thanks to a set of sliding metal panels, realized with Cassina's branded metallic patterns, recreating different rooms and moods.
“The white lacquered displays, scattered on the raw polished concrete floor, act as three-dimensional sculptural canvas enhancing each and every design product”.
The full height windows and the very tall ceiling allow a large amount of natural light, dimmed and filtered thanks to a layer of metallic nets that work as counter ceiling, hiding most of the pipings and visible structures.
Open to the public since early October 2018, MIFA 1862 is entirely dedicated to design and art activities, as well as hosting top brands and restaurants within such unique space facing the river in north Pudong, that is destined to be one of the most successful new design districts in Shanghai.
